TWO ROUNDS PLAYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.Copyright Sydney, October 12. The amateur stroke competition in connection with the championship meeting has been won by Lieutenant Brooke of H.M.s. Powerful, with a score of 75 The opening .rounds of the championship begin to-day, (Received October 13, 12.5 a.m.) Melbourne, October 12. There was fine weather for the opening of the golf championships on Rose Bay links to-day. Two out of the four rounds of the open championship were got through. The features of the play were the downfall of the Victorians and the success of the New South Wales amateurs. With fine play the Hoods both proved superior to their opponents,' and Gollan failed to hold his own against Clarke, of New South Wales. . [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] W ESTi'OET, Friday.
