NEW ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT.
PROTEST BY THE HAWKK'S BAY SOCiKTY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION*.] Napier, Thursday. The Council of the Hawke's Bay Acclimatisation Society considered a proposal made by the Government to form a new acclimatisation district, including the West and East Taupo Counties, and to place the same under the control of the Tourist Department. The members forwarded a unanimous protest against the proposal, on the grounds that after 15 or 20 years' successful work in acclimatising fish and stocking the rivers, the Department would step in and reap the benefit of their work in the form of the license fees.
