ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. [BY TELEGRArH PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] ! Christchtjrcu, Wednesday. At the Addington yards to-day there was a fair yarding of stock and a small ■ attendance. Beef sold at last week's rates, at lambs brought good prices, while stove sheep and fat, sheep, except prime heavy wethers, were easier. The. demand for. pigs was hardly as keen as of late, and there was a dull sale for store and dairy cattle. Store Sheep: A'small yarding of store sheep found few buyers, the dry weather and the heavy crop of lambs no doubt fecting the demand for dry sheep, Prices were easier, especially for crossbred hoggets Fat Lambs: There were about 80 fat lambs penned, the quality being; above the average of the past .two years. The demand was good, sales being made at 16s to _Us, and up to 22s 6d for heavier weights. : • Fat P Sheep: The supply of fat sheep was a fairly large one.and was made up, principally of withers, including several -lines of merino. A considerable proportion of the ', ■' varfS wis of unfinished sorts a number of pens which were j bought by graziers. which afforded a relief that prevented any ' Mem decline in price. Three pens of «born wethers, passed the week before, were sold at 17s 6d, which was the first sale ot shorn sheep for the year at Addington yards. For prime heavy shoen the market was firm, but lighter sheep and merino wethers were easier. The range of prices was: Prime wethers, 23s to 275; lighter, 19s 6d to .22s ■'■■• 6d- shorn wethers, 17s 6d; extra prime ewes, 24s 9d to 26s 6d; prime, 18s to 22s 4d; others, 14s 3d to 17s 6d; hoggets, 17s 6d to 30s; prime merino wethers, 17s 6d to 20s 9d; others. 14s 4d to 17s. Fat Cattle: The yarding of fat cattle total- . led 188, of which the bulk were not up to prime quality so . far as condition was concerned. There were two linos of North ,; /-, Island cattle among those offered. There was a fair demand, and prices showed: practically no change for good beef. Steers brought £6 10s to £12 15s; heifers, £5 12s 6d to £10 10s 6d; cows, £5 Ss to £9 17s 6d; equal to 24s to 26s for prime and 20s to 23s for inferior to medium per 1001b. A good ' entry of veal calves sold at 7s 6d to 41s. Store and Dairy Cattle: The store cattle ■ pens were filled with a mixed entry, mostly young sorts, and as few buyers were present but little business was done. Sales'were made at the following rates: Yearlings, 235; 15 .to 18 months, 30s to 40s; two years steers, £2 12s to £2 17s 6d; two year heifers, £2 9s to £2 13s; three year steers, £4 10s; three year- heifers, £3 17s 6d; four year steers, £5 15s; dry cows, 20s to £3 7s 6d. The dairy cows, of which there was a large entry," were a moderate lot, and sales took • . place from £3 10s to £7. : .' _ ,'■' '•', ■'■■'* '■;■.. Pigs: There-was' again a full yarding of pigs, and except for baconers the demand : was ; not. so keen, and, prices for stores were not so good. Baconers made 40s to 555, and . one 'pen of heavier weights to 653 (equal to 5d to s£d per lb); porkers, 33s to 43s (equal to ssd to 6d per lb); large stores, 25s to 345; medium, 18s to 22s 6d; and weaners, 12s 6d to 17s.
