SHOCKINGLY SUDDEN DEATH.
—«. •A sudden* death occurred near the hospital yesterday afternoon.: Captain John 'McLiver, of Avondale, and his wife, had been paying a visit to a friend, who is an invalid, at the institution, and were coming away , when Captain McLiver complained to his wife/who was walking with him, of feeling unwell. Ho sat. down by the roadside to rest, and expired in a few moments. A doctor was sent for, but he could only pronounce life .'to? be extinct. The body was' taken to the hospital morgue, where it now lies. It is understood that deceased had suffered from heart disease for some time past. Captain McLiver was the son of the late Mr. Lachlau McLiver, and wan well- . knowu in the South Sea Island trade. He .retired from the sea some years ago, and since then has resided at Avondale. He > was 62 years of age. The deceased was a man of genial disposition, and his death . will be heard of with general regret.
