Cowan, late chief officer by the Waipori, left by the ITakapuna for Wellington yesterday for orders. Mr. E. F. Black left by the Zealandia yesterday for Sydney, where he joins the New. Zealand team of bowlers. Mr. Norman J. Price, of the General Electric Company, arrived by the Victoria yesterday, on a short visit to his people. Dr. T. S. Champtaloup, who has been on a visit to his relatives in Auckland,, left by the Kumara last evening for London. Mr. C. J. , Mr. H. IT. Drummond, second officer of the Victoria, has passed his examination as master in the foreign trade, and has rejoined the Victoria. Mr. C. McLean, late of the Wairuna, has been appointed chief officer of the Waipori, Mr. Cc»wan leaving for Welling- \ ton by the Takapuna yesterday. The Rev. David Bruce, D.D., was a passenger from Sydney by the Victoria yes- -. terday, to attend the jubilee celebrations of the • Auckland Presbytery, of which the rev. gentleman was one of the founders. Mr. F. W. Griffiths, who is leaving PaerOa for Gisborne, was accorded a public farewell on Saturday evening. Mr. W. G. Nicholls (county chairman) presided. a.nd during the evening presented Mi*. Griffiths with an illuminated address and a purs© of sovereigns from his many friends. Mr. R. R. Martin, organiser of the Political Reform League, returned to Auckland by the Takapuna on Sunday morning. Mr. Martin visited the Taranaki district and established branches of the league at New Plymouth, and Stratford. He' re- ' mains in the Auckland province for a short time and will then return to Taranaki. Messrs. G. A. Ooles and C. Grosvenor, two of the four delegates appointed by the Auckland Employers' Association to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Employers* Federation, which opens in Wellington, on Wednesday next, left yesterday by the Takapuna for New Plymouth. The other delegates, Messrs. D. Golclie (president) and Joseph Miller, left on -Friday last. Yesterday forenoon, at St. Matthew's Church, Hobson-street, Miss Gertrude Maud (Daisy) Bennett, only child of the [Maud (Daisy) Bennett, only child of the late Mr. Philip Bennett, Paeroa, Ohinemuri, was married to Mr. Norman Charles Petrie, of Sydney. The ceremony was Performed by the Rev. W. E. Gillam, Mr. Phillpot presided at the organ. The bride was given away by Dr. Stopford, and wore an elegant costume of white chiffon taffeta, with yoke and bolero draping of blonde lace, caught with a cluster of orange blossom, and hat of ivory crinoline, trimmed with tulle and white silk cowslips. She was attended by Miss Heney as bridesmaid, who was prettily gowned in blue crepe de chine with a yoke of Valenciennes lace, and hat trimmed with blue chiffon and pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Arthur Plugge. The happy pair subsequently received the congratulations of their friends at "Ennore," Symond -street, where a reception was held by Mrs. Bennett, the bride's mother.
