HOURS AND PAY OF DRIVERS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association.] Wellington, Saturday. The Drivers' Union recently asked the Arbitiation Court to interpret the following point:—Could an employer, if his business required it, employ his drivers for, say, 10 or 12 hours per day on two or three days, of the week without payment of overtime, so long as 47 hours per week were not exceeded? The Court replied that the award allowed an employer to regulate his working hours according to the special requirements and circumstances of his trade or business. An employer is not entitled to regulate his hours capriciously, and they must be regulated in advance. *
