THE MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS.

[BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Saturday. The Hon. W. Hall-Jones, Minister for Railways and Public Works, arrived from Wellington this morning, to open the new bridge over the C'ust River, near Stoke. After attending to some Departmental business ho left by special train, about half-past eleven. At Rangiora, where he stopped for a few minutes, he was waited on by a deputation, the members of which urged that certain improvements should be carried out at the railway station there. The Minister promised to give due consideration to the request. He then proceeded to Stoke, where he opened the new bridge over the Cust, and was afterwards entertained at a luncheon. On returning to Christchurch he paid a short visit to the' Exhibition, and left Liter in the evening for Wellington.
