AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB'S MEETING. Nkxt Saturday the nerves of New Zealand turfites will be at high tension, for on that day the cquines who are this year in commission to battle for the honour of Maoriland at Randwick will come under the full glare of the limelight. By all accounts Mr. Stead's representative for the A.J.C. Derby. Huasoar, lias made good improvement during the time he has been at Randwick; but, while this is so, the chestnut eon of Hotobkiss and St. Elyn has not won much approval from those who have been engaged in watching the training. It will not apparently require a second Noctuiform to win the A.J.C. Derby; but still, in what is held to be a weak year. Huascar is not finding much favour. A race on next Saturday's programme in the result of which a great deal of interest will be centred is the Spring Stakes. The New Zealander Solution, who figures amongst the entrants, will have to cope with some very strong opposition, as amongst the entrants are Lady Wallace, Marvel Loch, Dividend, and Emir. Prior to Solution being shipped from NewZealand the party behind the daughter of Soult assessed her to be as good as Gladsome. Now it was a close thing last season between Gladsome and Lady Wallace at weight-for-age, so that if the summing tip in favour of Solution being the equal of the daughter of Seaton Delaval be cast on a solid foundation, , the Spring Stakes will not be beyond her tether. The meeting of Solution and Lady Wallace will in itself, therefore, be brimful of interest. On the second day of the A.J.C. meeting there will be something outside Solution's engagement in the Metropolitan Stakes to rivet strongly the attention of New.Zea;. landers. This will be the contest for the Breeders' Plate, a race confined to the two-year-old division, and in which the New Zealand colts Boniform (by Multiform— Otterden) and Seddon. (by Soult—Rose and White) are expected to play a prominent part. Boniform has been responsible for some very taking work, and though voted somewhat en the small side he is characterised as a born galloper. Seddon must have satisfied the astute Isaac Foulsham that he had a fine dash of pace or the Caulfield trainer would hardly have advised the transportation of the brother to Wairiki from Victoria to New South Wales. The son of Soult had not been properly slackened out at Randwick when the last mail left Sydney; but in the work exacted from him he was given credit for handling himself like a racehorse. If a New Zealand-bred colt wins the Brooders" Plate Maoriland will receive a fine advertisement, as the field is expected to be one of the largest that has ever contested a two-year-old event on the A.J.C. ground!
