Y.M.C.A. CAMERA CLUB. Ok Thursday evening at the Y.M.C.A, '"• rooms, an instructive talk was given by Mr. 0. Spencer to members of the Y.M.C.A. Camera Club. The subjects included i*>chromatic plates, development, p.o.p. and bromide printing, cameras, etc. N Z BRANCH'MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS. A new lodge in connection with the Auckland district of the above society was opened at Huntly this week. The opening ceremonies were conducted by Brother* Thomas Aitken (district 'grandmaster), William Tho- . mas (district treasurer), and John McLecd (district secretary), assisted by Brothers P. A. Stewart (N.G. Fountain of Friendship Lodge), and William Poole (Carringtott Lodge, New- South Wales). The new lodge, which has been named the " Hand of Friendship" Lodge, was opened with 21 members. • Several candidates were proposed for initiation at the lodge's next meeting. The following were elected as officers of the lodge, viz •—Brothers Wm. Poole, grandma-tor; George Limb, N.G.; John Clout, V.G. ; Robert Coulson, permanent secretary; James Pulton, treasurer and lecture master; William Kirkwood, warden: _ George Morton, inner guardian: Robert Vickery, R.8.N.G.; Joseph T rougher. N.S.N.G.: .John R. Limb, RSV.G.; H. P. Payne. NS.V.G. Tho . provincial grandmaster, Brother Thomas Aitken, addressed the brethren at length on the principles or the order. Addresses were also Hf delivered bv the visiting brethren. At th* conclusion of the lodge meeting a ball was 1«? held in the Volunteer Hall, which was largelv attended. The Auckland district of the Manchester Unity Oudfellovvs has now 26 adult lodges, and two juvenile lodges, with ■ - membership exceeding 3000, and funds ex--agS ceedimr £74.000. The society contains over. gr one million members, with a capital exceeding . twelve millions sterling.
NORTH SHORE CRICKET CLUB. The annual general meeting of the North Shove District Cricket Club was held last night, Mr. E. G. Ford presided, and there wa« a large attendance of members. lire annual report stated that the senior; team had secured a tie for the first plate in the championship, and the other grades had all secured good positions on the list. Owing to the large quantity of material required during the season there was an outstandingliability of £10 14s sd. but as the club had a good stook of material on hand the amount required for the coming Mason would be small, and with the subscriptions vet to come in, amounting to £5 12s 6d, the deficit would be easily cleared off. The total receipts from all sources amounted to £61 14s Id, and the expenditure to £61 14t Id but, as stated above, there remained «n outstanding liability of £10 15s 9d to be met out of next season's revenue. The assets amounted to £30 15s 9d and the liabilities to £10 l*s sd, leaving a credit balance of £20 Is 4d. The debt on. the pavilion had been extinguished. The number of matches played by the No. 1 grade was 10, of which five were won and five lost. Tho total number of runs scored by the senior team was 2385, of which Mr. A. Haddon contributed the fine total of 508. The report and balancesheet were adopted. -It was resolved, ''That the incoming committee make application to the Council through their delegates for a wicket, on Victoria Park for the use of the Northcote Club." / The election of officers resulted as follows':-—President, Mr. J. C. Macky; vice-presidents, Messrs. Goudie, Cooper, E. W. Alison, M.H.R., E. G. Ford, Napier, W. Swanson, E. R. Cardno, E. W. Burgess, R. Wynyard, Ja«. Smith, W. Bright, G. L. Peacockc, Dr. Guinness, Colonel Davies; secretary, Mr. M. Orchard; treasurer, Mr. A. Cerutty; delegates to the Auckland Cricket Association, Messrs. Fronde. McNeil, and Haddon; auditor, Mr. i;. G. Ford; management committee, Messrs. A. Burgess, Prime, N. Wallace. G. H. Broughton, Haddon, and F. McNeil; selection committee, Messrs. Hussey, McNeil, and Haddon. It was decided to open the seeason on Saturday next. Ten new members were elected.
DEVONPORT YACHT CLUB. The first annual meeting of the Devonport Yacht Club was held last evening, in the Council Chambers, De-vonport. The commodore, Mr. J. B. Graham, presided, and there'was a large attendance of members. The chairman mentioned that a site had been secured for a club shed. The report, showed that the club started with 17 members and now had 101 ori"the raertitie'rship roll. The club held: three cruising, two harbour races, and one general handicap, all of which had been ' well patronised. -The balance-sheet showed » substantial balance. The report and the, balance-sheet were adopted. *fhe following officers were then elected:—Commodore, Mr. .7. C. Maeky; vice-commodore, Mr. .T.B. Graham; rearcommodore, Mr. J. W. Frater; secretary,' Mr. A. Sutherland; treasurer, Mr. J. 11. Frater; committee, Messrs. A. Mays, W. 'ajinojoW 'H fj ''Japusxojv ft AV 'JOAijo h J. Collis. D. B. Murdoch, C. P. Murdoch, W. T. Oakley, T. Maeky, and E. Binney; auditors, Messrs. L, Fisher and J, C. Webster. The secretary reported having ordered from Melbourne 50 badges with the club flag, which were expected to arrive in about a month's time. Mr. J. B. Graham brought forward the matter of the clubhouse, which was fully discussed. Commodore Murdoch, of the R.N.Z.Y. Squadron, urged the members to wait for a month, when a more suitable site could be obtained,- where deep water is '■- available. Mr. Murdoch moved. That the. matter be deferred and left to the officers and committee to bring up a further scheme." This was carried. Mr. .1. C. Maeky announced that he would present a cup to be competed for during the coming season. . ,
