A cafe chantant is to be held on Monday, October 1, in the Choral Hall in aid of the Door of Hope. The first aim of the promoters is to increase the sympathisers among the people of Auckland with thia necessary and excellent institution, and the second is to obtain money for the carrying out of a much-needed extension of the buildings. For the promotion of these very laudable objects the Mayoress (Mrs. Myers) and more than fifty other ladies of Auck- ' land have undertaken to not only provide a tea-table each, but to preside at'it.
