AUCKLAND BAPTIST TABERNACLE.
The 51st anniversary of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle was celebrated by a tea and public meeting in the Tabernacle Hall last evening, and both functions were largely attended and most successful.' The Rev. J. Clark presided at the public meeting - , and associated with iin on the platform were the Revs. W. Graj Dixon, R. Wvlie, and P. A. Williams, and Mr. S. H. Matthews (the church secretary). Mr. Matthews gave a summary of the reports on tho year's work. The number on the roll was now 585, an increase of seven during the year, after allowing for deaths and transfers. The attendance at the Sunday services was about the same as the previous year. In the Sundayschool there were 77 teachers and officers, and 444- scholars on the roll. Of the scholars 170 were church members. Tho Band ot Hope had a membership of 200, while the membership of Young People's Christian Endeavour Society totalled 121. The Missionary Society had also done good work, as also had the various other societies in connection with the church. A tender had been accepted for the erection of a jubilee church at Hamilton, which would seat 135 persons. During the year the separate communion cup system had boon introduced, and had proved acceptable to members generally. During the year £791 was received in collections and donations, and £261 in connection with the jubilee account.. The total receipts for the year amounted to £1408 18s 6d. Addresses were delivered during the evening by the Revs. Grai Dixon, K. Wylie, P. A. Williams, and Pastor Clark. Several musical selections were also given by the choir which proved most acceDtable.
