COROUAXDBti, Tuesday. The monthly meeting of the Coromandel County Council was held yesterday. Communication* were read und dealt with as follows:—From the Mayor of Wellington re national memorial to the lute Mr. Seddon : It was decided to invite subscriptions. From the. Under-Secretary for Mines in reply to a request for an additional grant, of £200 for Coromandel Wharf Road extension, advising the Council to expend the Riant already available, and, if insufficient, to apply for more. From the Mayor of Auckland re the Auckland memorial to the late Mr. Seddon : It was decided that the Council favours the. national memorial. From the Minister for Mine*, intimating that he had laid the Council's request for a survey of the Pungnpunga Road before the Minister for Lands, who had agreed to the survey being made by a Government surveyor. From the .Mines Department, authorising the expenditure of £15 for the Kuaotunu Cemetery Road by day labour. From the Mines Department, intimating: that the Coromandel School of Mines lias agreed to make assays of ore. tree of cost to prospectors. From .1. Mr. O'Brien said the Council should send a representative to Wellington and pay bis expenses to lay the matter properly before the Local Bills Committee. Mr. James stated that the Thames County had been canvassed for sig. natures against the Bill being passed, and if the matter were judged merely from the number of signatures Coromandel must fail. The chairman was authorised to proceed to Wellington to place the matter before the Local Bills Committee.
