Dpnedin, Monday. The district health officer has directed the attention of the Southland Education Board to the danger of spreading consumption and other infectious diseases by the practice of gathering up school pens promiscuously at the close of each day's work, and issuing them indiscriminately nextday. Each child should have his or her own pen. The inspector was instructed to report on the suggestion.
