MIXED FOURSOMES.

Mixed foursomes were played at the Cornwall Park links on Saturday afternoon, and despite the unfavourable weather more than 40 golfers took part. The course was over the 18, holes, and the match was won by W. Heather and Miss Nora Brown, with a score of 97 net. Others who returned cards were as follows;—D. McCormick and Miss E. Pierce, 106; J. The New Zealand Golf Championship Meetin? commences oil Monday morning at 1 lie Shirley links. A large number of players from all parts of the colony are taking part, and many of them have arrived, S. H. Gollan. of Napier, a former champion, is expected to win the championship. The runner-up may prove to bo any of the following :~ Harold Wright (Tiiiiaru), C. Yrewcok (Christchurch). and Te Tareha uvapier), also a former champion. OTAGO V. CHUISTCHURCH. The annual matches between the Ota go and Christchurch Or,lf Clubs, for the Hanrner and Campbell-Hoaking shields, were played at the Shirley links, the first match being for foursomes, and the second for twosomes. The results were:—Hanmer shield: Christchurch, nine holes; Otago, five. Campbell and Iloshing shield: Otago, eight wins; Christchurch, five.
