M.- Morton £400 damages in connection with land taken by the Government for a rifle range. The claim was for £1000. Blenheim, Monday. The Westport Coal Company's output last week was 16,299 tons l4cwt, and the Seddonville State mine 900 tons. . Waxganui, Monday. At the Supreme Court to-day' Robert Ross Moore, charged with perjury, false pretences, and making a false declaration, was sentenced to nine months. , ' ~ GaimioTTTYr, Monday. ; Hie export of coal for the week ending Saturday was 5313 tons 17cwt, made up as follows;-State mine, 2679 tons 9cwt; Ji runner and Tynaswde, 1040 tons 6cwt; Blackball, 1594 tons 2c\vt. At the Magistrate's Court to-dav a young man named William ; Rakes was charged with assaulting a Chinaman. Accused went into the premises to buy a pakapoo lottery ticket, and dabbed a brush in the Chinaman's face. A fight ensued, and the Chinaman ' was badly knocked about. Accused was fined £5, and. £3 3s cost. At a meeting of returned troopers, held in the Town Hail this evening, it was decided to hold a reunion on October 2. A large number attended from all over the coast. : ;-. ; Ashburtov, Monday. Rhoda Miriam Cave, w single woman, aged 76, was found dead in bed this morning. -
