ENTERTAINMENTS.

BBS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.

"THE WORLD'S PICTURES;?

" The World's Picture Company"; submitted an excellent collection of pictures at His Majesty's Theatre last ; evening, which won the decided approval of the audience. Some first-class scenic, comic, and pathetic pictures were shown, and Miss Louie Whitford sang illustrative songs. Amongst the subjects were "The Strike at Marseilles," " Great Fire Scene in New York,"" Tit for Tat," "Father' Honour." "The Judgment of Solomon," " The Last of the Witches." Part of the play in the Auckland versus Wellington football match of Saturday was shown. The programme will be repeated to-night, and to-morrow afternoon a matinee will be held. OPERA HOUSE. There was a good attendance at the Opera House last evening to witness the excellent entertainment provided by Fuller's Minstrel and Vaudeville Company. A new and original turn was inaugurated last evening, when the Mascotte Samcan Siva troupe made their first appearance. There are seven females and one male, and they are shown in somewhat gorgeous dr:-ss, which the. limelight sets off well. The turn opened with a reproduction of the Samoan lament "Tupai wai Folene." The, lament somewhat resembles that' of the Maori, but, if anything, it is not so plaintive. This was followed by a song called the " Siva," which was made more realistic by a number of quaint gesticulations. The turn concluded with a fairly good imitation of the cry of a Samoan plover in one of that bird's angry moods. The performers are Auckland ladies who have resided in Samoa. The Siva is attractive and should prove popular. The Carnios again displayed their great ability. Monoghan and Sheehan's musical turn was good. The Four Rosebuds were recalled, and the other artists assisted in a good average programme. The performance will be repeated this evening. . ' : - ANNIVERSARY SOCIAL. The 33rd anniversary social in connection with the Auckland branch (No. 81) of the Hibernian Benefit Society was held in the Hibernian Hall, Wellington-street, last night. During the evening a musical programme was gone through, and card-playing was also indulged in. The music was sup-, plied by Meredith's Band, and the M.C.'s were Messrs. C. Mullholland, F. Council, E. Casey, and T. Pound (hon. secretary).
