HIRST'S GREAT RECORD.

London, August 31. The Yorkshire cricketer Hirst has completed 2000 runs and taken 200 wickets this season. This is a record.

Armstrong (Victoria) made 2002 vims and took 130" wickets, and in the same year Rhodes (Yorkshire) made 1581 runs and took 382 wickets. Hirst himself got near it in 1901 with 1950 runs and 183 wickets. His recent figures have been: 1903, 1844 runs, 128 wickets; 1904, 2501 runs and 132 wickets; and 1905, 2266 runs, 110 wickets.

Kent not having lost a match since Whitsuntide, it becomes the champion county, Yorkshire, Surrey, Lancashire, Notts, Warwick, and Essex following in the order named.

Hay ward made his thirteenth century, against Middlesex, this week, and thus increased his aggregate to 3360 runs, which is a record.
