[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] OTOROHANUA. THE annual meeting of the Otorohanga Tennis Club was held recently. II was decided to pot the court in order at once for the coining season. The following officers were elected :—Patron, Mr. F. W. Lang; president, Mi'. A. F. Puckcy ; vicepresident, Mr. W. Vicary. The Otorohanga Football Club lias now won the Waipa Rugby Union's caps for two rears running. HAMILTON'. At (-lie Magistrate's Court on Thursday, bofoie Sir. 11. W. A meeting of the General Committee of the Franklin A. and P. Society was held on Wednesday. Mr. James Roulston, jun., occupied the chair. Five members tendered (heir resignation, as owing to having left the district they wished their names removed from the members' roll. Mr. J. Patterson was reappointed secretary, with an advance in Biliary. Messrs. Rutherford. Potter, Kennelly and the president were appointed a sub-committee to revise the schedule. It was decided to top-dress the show ground with bones and superphosphate, and to sell the grazing rights at next Loan and Mercantile sale, in September. The appointment of the District Committee was deferred until a future meeting. A meeting of the Seddou Memorial Committee was held on Wednesday. There were about 10 member* present.. Mr. H. Dell occupied the chair. The various lists were handed in to the secretary, and the grand total proved to be £53 ! odd. Mr. Murray, of the Acetylene Gas Company, submitted a design with granite base and east iron generator box and lamp attached. The committee decided upon Messrs. F. Harris and ! Co.'s design, it being in their opinion the most suitable in view of the cash at their disposal. ! Mr. Murray, who was present, was in doubt as to i whether a lamp could be affixed to Messrs. Harris and Co.'s column, but the matter was left with Mr. Harris, who was present, to try and arrange with Mr. Murray. If no arrangement, can be mafle, Mr. Harris was requested to furnish a. price for a lamp complete, including the pedestal the committee had selected. Tho Town Board are making progress with (he election of gas lamps for the main street. The Board's surface man was yesterday erecting tho lamps in position. The posts arc cast iron. A special meeting of the Pukekohe Town Board was held on August 9, to confirm by-laws for the town district. The by-laws were confirmed and come into force on September 1, 1906, except that for wheel trailic, which comes into force, on May 1, 1907. ONEWiIF.RO. A large gathering of residents of the district took place nt Mr. and Mrs. C. .'. Lindbergh, for .he purpose of making a presentation to Mr. and Mrs. Liudberg, as a token of appreciation of their many kindnesses and help in cases of sickness md trouble, and for many enjoyable social evenngs spent at their house. The presentation was made by Mr. Peter (ieraghty, who thanked Mr. and Mrs. Lindbcrg on behalf of the residents, and trusted that tney would accept a marble clock from them. The inscription was " Presented to Mr. and Mrs. Liudberg as a token of respect by the people of Onewhero," DRURY. THE monthly meeting of the Bond of Hope was held on Wednesday evening, a good uidienco being present. The chair was tak--211 by Mr. E. Morgan. A good programme was rendered, the chief item of which was a stirring temperance address by Mr. Watertiouse. Tho Road Board held their monthly meeting on Saturday last, all the members being present. A few days previous to the meeting all Ave members, together with the clerk of the Board, spent a day 'and traversed almost all the roads in the district from end to end. Notes were taken on the way of the most necessary works required. The Board are making an innovation this year in the expenditure by allocating to each road or group of roads a share of the revenue on the basis of rates collectable. It was decided to call tenders for metal lor the Beach, Hunua, and Waikoekoe Roads, 350 yards in all; also, to metal five chains by Mr. Coulthard's with sandstone as a further trial. .Some that was pr»t on last year seemed to stand the traffic all right. Mr. 11. Flanagan wrote as to his road, offering if the Board would procure three trucks of scoria, to refund the cost of two of them and do the carting and spreading without charge. The request was granted. A reply was received from the chief-postmaster, Auckland, unfavourable to a request that the Drury and Papakura post offices give out letters between eight and nine a.m. It was decided to take further action.
