TO HOUSEHOLDERS.
YYAIwVIJSUr IV i/ Sir,—ln the interests of the public I wi-ii to warn householders in the Auckland province, and specially in country districts against plausible hut unprincipled, men, pi* ending to represent some far-away m#l * ery and hosiery house-:. I do not of course refer to the ' representatives of reputatMAuckland firm.?. The method of these men is to ?how samples' of hosiery, etc., _wnie the* .offer to send at. some future time at ridiculously low figures. The order having been booked (but nor executed) they then produce short* rubbish for whicii they iequire cash. The cheap booked goods are merely a bait in order to induce the householder to buy the rubbish, and, I believe, are never forwarded. It is a great pity tm* police have not power to put an end to this dishonest business, but 1 am told they have not. A? you are aware. lam not myself connected with business life, and write solely in the interests' of your readers, whom I wish to protect From fraud. A victim.
