THE GOLD RETURNS.

The gold returns from the Auckland dis-trict-mines for the past month -have•reached;.' a -total of £101,721 • 16s 1 3d, and complete the yield for' the first six months of the year, the total value for the half-' , yearly period being £600,428 16s 7d. This is a record for the district, and shows an increase of £91,318 lis 7d on the previous highest output, that for tho second six months of 1903, when the gold won was valued at £509,110 ss. The total for the first six months of 1905 was £427,422, or £173,005 17s lCd less than the amount obtained for the bullion during the first • six months this year. • The following are the details of the. past four weeks' returns:— OHIXEMUPJ. During the month of June the Waiotahi Gold Mining Company crushed and treated 1742 tons of ore and 7661b of picked stone ( for a yield of 69010z 16dwt of melted gold, ; valued at £19,051 16s Id. This return establishes another record for the mine, the amount mentioned being £310 8s lOd more than the previous highest return, viz., that for May, when 1417 tons of general ore and lOcwt of picked.stone yielded bullion valued at £18,741 7s 3d. OMAIIU MINES. . The manager ot the Oniahu .Mines reports having treated 292 tons of dirt for a yield of bullion worth £197 3s sd. .. - WAITAIA. ', The manager (Mr. .C. H. -Ben.net) of the ; Waitaia gold, mine,: Kuaotunu. has- lodged in the Bank of New Zealand, 540z 2dw,t of melted bullion from the plates, and bcrdans. . The approximate value is £176. . ROYAL OAK.
