' NEW, -ZEALAND TEAM TO; £VISITi, ij , : '. '." ;'• "" ■"!*' VICTORIA. ■.- «H ..■.'■','■ Several prominent ''bowlers- have received copies of the,, following .letter . from Mr. Payne (ex-presidont of the > New Zealand * Bowling Association)^—"When the. Victorian team of cricketers was over here, Warwick Armstrong, tho captain, mentioned the ;v fact that the Melbourne Cricket Club" had ? a aplehditl bowling-green, and that Major ;/ Wsrdill was now an enthusiastic bowler. Armstrong * suggested that a New Zealand team of bowlers- should visit Australia, and request Major Wardill to arrange a tour. I have taken up the matter, and am pleased to say that even at this early stage quite a (;': Sufficient number of good bowlers have pro- ; mised to go to ensure a successful tour. I could get a. team of sixteen men from the ijffSouth Island, but am anxious to have tlio team composed of 'first-class bowlers. ■ It is intended, to leave about .the beginning of : October, and he away six weeks. This arrangement 'Would - enable the visiting team ; to sop the Melbourne Cup, and also a test ] ;..cricket' match. I* am trying to arrange for ; a rink from each of the Auckland, Wellington," and Christcliurcir centres, and would be pleased if you could arrange to make one of tho team."
