I LADY GOLF CHAMPIONS. ;-j •At Bumhani (8oraor:-et) ■ yesterday the 18if! scratch medal play competition, winch itlwatci /Drecediis ibu - tournament feu' tin mr-
ladies' golf championship, was notable for a. round of 77 by Miss May Hezlot, the Irish champion, who easily won first prize (says the London Daily Mail of May 16). The storm of Sunday which was considered the worst that Buruham had experienced for 20 years, had cleared, but a stiff northeasterly wind made the golf difficult, and resulted in many cards being destroyed. Miss Hezlet, however, played brilliantly. She went out in 38 (two strokes under bogey), and came homo in 39, her total of 77 equalling the men's bogey score for the links. Her partner, Miss Dorothy Campbell, the Scottish champion, recorded 85 (52 out and 43 home). Mrs. G. B. Sumpter, of Hunstanton, also returned a card of 85 (45 and 40), and these two players tied for second prize. Miss Bertha Thompson, the nresent lady open champion, took 83 (47 and 41). Mil"; M. A._ Graham, a former champion, and Miss E. C. Neville, who wore coupled, had a large following, but neither plaver showed her true form. Miss Graham had a 9 at the second halo, and she finished in 93. while Miss Neville could do no better than 91. Miss C. Foster had a fine o at the first hole, but she totalled 91. while her partner, Mrs. Durlnchcr, the Irish international player, retired.
