Martyn will arrive at Auckland from Napier to-morrow by the Tarawcru. Mr. W. Mcßride, late chief officer of the Taviuui, was a, passenger to Dunedin by the Mokoia yesterday. Mr. D. W. Duthie, manager of the National Bank of New /..ealanct, has isturaed from his visit to the South. Dr. Norman ■ Murray, who has been "'•studying his profession in Great Britain, returned to Auckland by the Mokoia from Sydney on Monday. Mrs. F. J. Hammond, of the North Shore, accompanied by her two children, were passengers tu Sydney by the Manuka on Monday, on a short 'holiday visit.
Mr. W. J. Munro, of the Crown Lands Department, left yesterday morning by the Waiot-ahi for Opotiki and bast Coast, wnere » large land ballot is being held. ;
The Rev. Father Servajeaii is about to take his departure from Blenheim,, where ho has been a popular figure for several vears. Ho leaves in a few days for France.
Mr. W. E. Woodward, manager of the Union Bank ,of Australia, who has been "ranted two months' holiday leave, was a passenger to Sydney by the Manuka on .Monday.

The Hon. Jas. Carroll, Minister for Native Affairs, left Auckland yesterday for (; is borne by the Mokoia. ■ The Minister goes to Gisborne owing to the serious state of Mrs. Carroll's health, which has decided him to return home before continuing his journey South.

He riot, late headmaster of the Remuera public school, was presented with a testimonial and a purse of sovereigns in St. Luke's Hall, Remuera, on Mbnday evening, on behalf of the parents, friends, and old boys of the school. The presentation ■•whs made by Mr. M. A. Clark. The old girls, represented by Miss Parker, presented Mr. Heriot with a travelling bag. In the afternoon the school children _ presented their late master with a testimonial.
