THE NEW QUAY WALL.

A TENDER ACCEPTED. Tenders for the construction of the new quay wall to be taken across from the Auckland Dock to Queen-street Wharf were opened at the. Harbour Board meeting yesterday afternoon. There were three tenders, viz., those of Messrs. Newsome and Oolson, of Auckland, £15,346 5s 4d; Mr. ,T. T. Julian. Auckland. £,16.878 17s lid; and Mr. G. F. Pulley, of Wellington, £18,998 13s 6d. The engineer's estimate for the work was £17,000. The engineer had recommended that, as it was a matter of urgency, the tenders should he dealt with at the Board's meeting instead of being referred to the Works and Tariff Committee. The Board thereupon went into committee to consider the tenders and upon resuming reported that Messrs. Newsome. and Colson's had been accepted.
