AUCKLAND DISTRICT GOLD RETURNS.

£104/435 FOR' FOUR WEEKS.

Tick value of the gold won from the' Auckland district fields for the past four weeks is £104,435 5s 2d. The yield is a. gratifying one in that it maintains the steady increase that has marked the gold production of our fields this year as compared with the output for 1905. Towards the present returns the Ohinemuri district contributes £82,164 0s 2d, the Thames £21,442 19s 3d, and Corqniandel 828 5s Sd. SOUTHERN QUEEN. The secretary of the Southern. Queen Gold .Mining Company (Mr. H. J. Lee) received the following telegram from the mine manager yesterday : — Got three pounds good specimen stone in winze ; reef looking well." WAIHI BEACH. The following are the results of the latest assays of samples of quartz taken from the north drive in thu Waihi Beach mine: — 3083 f- from the main crosscut, £1 2s lid' per ton; 511 ft, 19s lOd; 313ift, £1 4s lOd. McNeil, Gallant special quartz claim, for six months ; John Carroll, New Invicta special quartz claim, for six months; -Dan Leahy, Sir George Grey special quartz claim, for six months. The following applications were also granted:-— J. Prescott, Tandem special quartz claim, 20 acres, Kennedy's Bay; F. M. Mills. Mills' Reward special quartz claim, 100 acres, Mat-amataharakeke; C. Eraser, New Waitaia- special quartz claim. 100 acres; F. H. Turner, Whim Whan sea beach claim, Mercury Bay ; J. W. Callaway, Black Sand claim. Mercury Bay; Hauraki Freehold Gold Mining Company, protection granted by Minister for Mines for six months from March 15, 1906; Golden Pah Gold Mining Company, protection granted by Minister for Mines from March 15, 1906. * *

In connection with A. J. Prescott's application for Tandem special claim, objection was lodged by the New Four-in-Hand Company. Mr. Rhodes appeared for the applicant and Mr. Burgess for the objector. The objection was dismissed and the claim granted to applicant.

Robert Sadgrove applied for the Kapai special claim, Kuaotunu. This was* objected to by Joseph Dyer, on grounds of insufficient marking out. Mr. Carnell appeared for applicant and Mr.;,, Rhodes for objector. The objection was 'upheld,, ! and costs awarded to the objector. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
