MEETINGS.

AUCKLAND MINISTERS' ASSOCIATION.

The members of the Auckland' Ministers' Association held the monthly meeting yesterday in the parlour'of Pitt-street, Church. There was a good attendance. The Rev. W. Gray Dixon, M.A., president, occupied the chair. The Revs. W. Griffith, Orecnslade, Edward Walker, and Flynn-Anderson were welcomed by the president. Correspondence and various reports and other business having been dealt with, the Rev. D. D. Scott, Unelrunga,- gave his paper. "Some Recent Literature Bearing Upon the Atonement " which was well received. After the Revs J. B. Russell, Joseph Clark, and W. G. Dixon had spoken, it' wa/> 'resolved to adjourn the further discussion of the paper fill next meeting. A warm vote of appreciation and thanks was passed to the Rev. D. D. Scott for his most excellent and painstaking paper. 11 Rev. J" £ Monro invited the members to hold the July meeting at St. Luke's K«muera. After the completion of the business those, present were hospitably entertained by the Rev. .J. AUCKLAND METHODIST MISSION. Largely attended meetings were held on •Sunday at the Foresters' Hall. The Rev. U. r.- Kotliwell preached in the morning to a good congregation. The afternoon meeting was conducted by the Rev. J. Wilfon, and a capital address was delivered by the Rev. K. H. Catherwood. NORTHCOTE ATHEN^CM The fortnightly meeting of the Norlheole Athe.neum was he.ld in the Bay View Hall. Northcote, last Friday evening. Mr. H Wilding occupied the chair. The evening was devoted to the reading and discussion of essays, the following members contributing :-Mrs. R A Mceks. "Labour in the South Sea Islands;" Mr. K. .1. Trcmain. Five Year., "Volunteering in the Auckland Engineer Volunteers;" and Mr V )•; H Harrison, " Northcote, B.C. 4000." " ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL The usual fortnightly meeting of the Onehiinga Borough Council was held last night. There were present: The Mayor (Mr. John Rowe} (in the chair), and Messrs. Barr, Skinner, Moody, Colledge, Osborne, Hutchinson, Williams, and Morton. At letter was received from H. Bray and Co. re nightsoil contract. The letter was referred" to the Street; Committee. A letter was received from Messrs. Russell and Campbell stating that they did not.consider the Council had power to lease reserve for the purpose of septic tank. The matter was referred to the Council in committee to consider. A letter was received from Mr. E. W. Foote, .secretary of the Woollen Works. calling attention to the state of the footpath near the mill. The matter was. referred to the .Streets Committee. The turncock reported thai. 1.408,000 gallons of water hail been pumped during the past fortnight. Mr. Alfred Mason wrote offering to lease the blockhouse at 7s per week. It was resolved thai, the offer- be accepted. Twenty applications were received for the position of sexton. On the motion of the Mayor the'number was reduced to three. After taking a vote H. Strong was appointed.
