Applications for renewals of all the existing licenses were granted, subject ,in some > cases to certain improvements being, done to 1 "i.sl the premises, as recommended by the police. In the case of J. M." Agnew, of the- Cornwall Arms s£U?%g| Hotel, the police report stated • that the. house '' K'sf was old and did not comply with the, provision# £# of the Act. The renewal was granted on the guarantee given by Mr. Myers that the company would at once, erect a new building on the Pollenstreet frontage at a cost of at least £500 and in ■ ' such a manner as to form the nucleus of-*. '■ larger building to be. added at a later date. In the case of the To ate a Hotel, which was burned . CirSl down some months ago, and for which a permit ' had been granted to cany on the business i» j temporary premises, the license was renewed on !(, condition that the liew building was erected by * J the time the permit-expired. The police .report •"?pg pointed out that there were strong grounds for suspicion that a considerable amount of Sunday and after-hour trading was carried on in a number of hotels.
