A msktisg of tlic i.tccutive committee o. the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association v.33 'held yesterday afternoon, Mr. R. Hall (president) in tlic chair. Mr. 1". Lawry, M.il.R., attended the meeting and detailed what lie had done in the way of urging on 'lis Government the necessity of the better representation of the agricultural interests on the Harbour Hoy rd. He asked the co-oper-ation of the association in bringing the matter again under lie notice of the Government with a view to the introduction of a Bill giving the country districia adequate representation on the Hoard. Mr. V/. I'. Masse.v. M.H.H., agreed with Mr. La wry that the country interests should be adequately represented, as was the case in Wellington, and said that he had done-all thai, was possible in the direction indicated. The country districts of Auckland fchould insist on representation. The committee decided to deal with the question at its next meeting. In connection with the steps being taken in the direction of encouraging an improvement in the standard ol butter manufactured in the province, the secretary' of the association informed the meeting tlidf, the Auckland Provincial Creamery Managers and Exporters.' Association had taken an active interest in the proposed coinpetitions to be held under the au.ipices__of the Agricultural Association. The tirat-mentioned association had collected £83 to be expended as prizes for the butter exhibits at the forthcoming show, and wished the Agricultural Association to increase the amount to £100. On the motion of the chairman, who said that everything should be done to encourage the butter industry, it, was decided to vote £Z0 .towards the prizes. The question of affiliating the Creamery Managers' Association with the Agricultural Association, as suggested by the former, was referred to the general committee of the association. A letter was lead from Mr. K. Clifton, of the Stock Department, stating that he thought the time opportune for the association to offer prizes to the milk-suppliers for the best farm, herd, and dairy premises. As the interests of the consumer' were so intimately concerned, liberal donations towards such prizes should be expected. Mr. Clifton, who was present, said he had spoken to the acting-Mayor (Mr. G. Gray) on the matter and had been informed that the matter of the co-operation of the City Council would he carefully considered. Mr. 11. Massev thought Mr. Clifton's suggestion in the light direction, and after a brief discussion a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Mas.sev, Phillips, Clifton, and .Salmon, was appointed to interview the City Council with a view to ascertaining whether that body would co-operate with the association in providing prizes. The secretary of the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural Association wrote stating that the question of permitting the trimming of sheep for show purposes was frequently raised. The opinion of t.he Auckland Association was asked its to whether this should be permitted, with a view to uniformity in the matter. The question was referred to the Sheep. Committee to report.
