HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS.
Monday next, being Whit-Monday, will be observed by the banks, also Tuesday as Prince of Wales' Birthday Insurance offices will be closed on Monday, also the Stcck Kxchange. All grocers' shops will close- on Monday, and be open all day on Wednesday. Butchers' shops will Ix? closed after nine a.m. on Monday, remaining open all day on Wednesday. Drapers and furnishers will not observe Monday as a holiday, and many of the. warehouses will remain open on that day. The Post Office will observe Monday as a holiday. There will be a full delivery of letters to-day, and the office will be open for delivery over the counter between seven and right o'clock this evening. Mails tiespatched during Monday will be closed at eight a.m., and the usual clearanco of street receivers will take place at midnight to- ■ ; morrow. The Great Northern Steeplechase .neetins of the Auckland Racing Club, at EllerMie, will start to-day. the first race at noon. The first raeo on Monday will be started -it the same hour. The amusements for Monday evening a:e "The Fatal Wedding" at His Majesty's Theatre: Fuller's Empire Vaudeville Entertainers at the Opera House; Bcstoek and > ; Womb-yell's Circus at .Mechanics' Bay. The exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts will bo open on Monday from " hall past twelve p.m. to live p.m. and from seven p m. to ten p.m.
