The battleship Montagu has gone ashore at Shutter Point, Luncly Island, off the Devonshire Coast. She grounded during a fog and it is reported that she is badly damaged. | The crew are safe.' Assistance . ha*, been sent. (Received May 31, 10.38 p.m.) London, May 31. The hull of the battleship Montagu is badly torn, and she has filled with water It is feared she will become a total wreck. The officers and crew have landed. The battleship Montagu is of 14,000 tons, and was built in 1901. She has an armour belt of 7in, carries four 12in guns, and 12 6in guns, and has a speed of 19 knots. Lundy Island is 19 miles west of Morte Point, on the north-west coast of Devonshire, and "carries a lighthouse-, showing two lights visible respectively at 31 and 23 miles. The island is surrounded by rocks, except at one opening on the eastern side.
