The officers and crew have landed. The battleship Montagu is of 14,000 tons, and was built in 1901. She has an armour belt of 7in, carries four 12in guns, and 12 6in guns, and has a speed of 19 knots. Lundy Island is 19 miles west of Morte Point, on the north-west coast of Devonshire, and "carries a lighthouse-, showing two lights visible respectively at 31 and 23 miles. The island is surrounded by rocks, except at one opening on the eastern side.
