THE CHICAGO REVELATIONS

MORE LOATHSOME DETAILS. CORPSES CONVERTED INTO LARD. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— , New York, May 30. The American people are appalled at the revelations with regard to the insanitary the packinghouses of Chicago. The members of the Beef Trust, in consequence, are panic-stricken. ; Orders for Chicago goods from Great Britain, Germany, and Japan already are decreasing. One of the Commissioners, Mr. Sinclair, said that some time ago two men fell into the lard rendering vats and their bodies were allowed to remain and were " converted'' and sold as lard. Unborn calves, he adds, have been largely used in the making of potted meats. Decomposed chickens were frozen and deodorised and then tinned. Mr. Sinclair challenges the companies to bring an action for libel against him.
