TWO TRAWLERS ASHORE.
: _ <*» THICK FOG AT NAPIER. ' [BT TELEGRAPH.— association., Napier, Wednesday. A very thick fog enveloped the town and bay this afternoon and evening, and several" of the trawling fleet found a difficulty in making port. The trawler Wanona went ashore about five p.m. on the town PV ; beach, about 700 'yards beyond the end of the esplanade. The steamer Fairy and .1.1 oil launch went to her assistance about eight p.m., but after several ineffectual attempts to get the trawler off, it was decided to abandon the task for the night. The trawler Savaii also got on to the beach near the breakwater, but was subsequently got off. Another trawler, the Kini, was seen making in the direction of Petanc,- but as the fog is now a little less dense, she will probably return to port without mishap. It is expected that the Wanona will be got off at the next high tide, if the fog lifts. She is owned by Mr. J. Oorry, of Napier.
