THE CEMETERY BRIDGE.

The proposed loan for a traffic bridge over the Cemetery Gully was referred to at last night's meeting of the Grey Lynn Council. Mr. W. S. Smith moved a resolution expressing approval of the proposal, and a hope that the loan would bo carried.

Mr. W. Martin said it should be clearly understood that Grey Lynn accepted no responsibility in regard to the financial part of the matter...

Mr. W. W. Dumper moved an amendment to the effect that the Council take no action in the matter, either for or against. Mr. W. Dimcry said he was opposed to the bridge, and would vote against it. ' Mr. C. B. King did not think the Gouncil should take any action in the matter.

The Mayor said that the Council was not being asked to contribute towards the expense, but if they displayed a desire to get the bridge the City Council might attempt to make them share the expense. The bridge was a desirable work, but they should take no action in regard to it.

The amendment was carried.
