CLIVEDEN HALL.

USED AS A WEDDING PRESENT

London, May G. Mr. W. W. Asxoil, the American millionaire, who is settled in England, lias given Cliveden Hall and its contents to his son Waldorf, and diamonds worth £20,000 to his bride, Mrs. Langhorne Shaw, on the occasion of their marriage.

Mrs'. Shaw divorced her husband in America some years ago. She is a sister-in-law of Mr. (.'. Dana Gibson, the famous black and white artist, and she and her sister were the original .models for the " Gibson Girls." Cliveden Hall is a mansion set amidst noble woods in Buckinghamshire, on the Thames. It was. originally built by the Duke of Buckingham, the friend of Charles If., but was burned down in 1795 and 1849. In 1893 the then owner, the Duke of Westminster, sold it to Mr. Astor. In 1899 Mr. Astor took out his naturalisation papers as a British subject.
