Officers of the Valuation Department were in Raglan recently (writes cur correspondent), in connection with a valuation of the 'J'e Akau Block, which, it is understood, is being made for the Land Purchase Board. Mr. R. C. Mathias, of Devonport, who was for many year* manager of the estate, when it was leased by the New Zealand Land Association, and who consequently lias a very intimate knowledge of the land and its capabilities, piloted the valuers. It is hoped here that definite action on the part of the Government, in the direction of acquiring a considerable portion of the block for settlement purposes, may be the outcome of the visit. -
