The total losses of the Arc insurance companies at San Francisco are estimated at between £30,000,000 and £10,000,000, and this money will be paid by 107 companies According to a recent number of the Coast Review, the risks held in the State of California (including San Francisco) by companies having offices in Australia or New Zealand were as follows : —Aaichen and Munich, £2,065,799: Alliance, £1,515,438; Atlas, £1,753,019; Caledonian, £1,731,408; Commercial Union, £2,181,640; LawUnion and Crown, £867,276; Liverpool and London and Globe, £4,013,289; London Assurance, £2.869.761; London and Lancashire, £3,742,020; Mamchefcter Assurance, £981,478; National Union, £729,680; New Zealand. £1,154,619; North British and Mercantile, £1,920,382 ; Northern Assurance, £2,216,242; Norwich Union, £1,441.020; Palatine. NEW ZEALAND INSURANCE CO. LOSSES BY SAN FRANCISCO FIRE. The directors of the New Zealand Insurance Company have received a cablegram from their San Francisco manager staling that a, rough estimate gives the company's loss by the recent fire at £500,000. subject to a, reduction of £125.000 for reinsurances, and further redaction under policy conditions. GOVERNMENT AGENT'S REPORT. THREE-QUARTERS OF CITY DESTROYED. . [by telegraph.— fbkss ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Mr. Stevenson Smith, New Zealand Government agent in Sun Francisco, cables to the Premier as follows: —"Oakland, Wednesday Three-quarters of San Francisco destroyed; many lives lost; 200,000,000 dollars worth of property lost ; all our Government records burnt."
