THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.

PROGRAMME OF ATTRACTIONS. The holidays at Easter extend from ThursJ day evening next till the following Tuesday morning, and the usual attractions and facilities are provided for pleasure-s-tekers. The Railway Department have made ample arrangements for travellers by rail. A special night excursion train will be run to Rotorua on Thursday evening, the train leaving here at ten o'clock and arriving at Rotorua at twenty minutes past six o'clock on Friday morning. On Monday, the 16th instant, a train will leave Rotorua at a quarter-past seven o'clock in the evening, and arrive in Auckland at a-quarter to three o'clock on Tuesday morning, the 17th instant. From Wednesday, April 11, until Wednesday, April 18, an extra express train leave."* Auckland for Rotorua, Te Aroha, and Paeroa, at nine a.m. This train arrives at Hamilton at half-past twelve p.m., Te Aroha twenty minutes past two, Paeroa five minutes past three, Matamata five minutes past two, Okoroire twenty-five minutes past two, and Rotorua a-quarter to five p.m. From Thursday, April 12, until Thursday, April 19, an extra express train will leave Rotorua at five minutes past ten a.m., and arrive at Auckland at twenty-two minutes to six p.m. These extra trains will make the same stoppages as the ordinary express trains. Intending passengers are advised to travel by the nine a.m. express train from

Auckland, as by so doing they reach their

destination an hour earlier than by the ordinary express. A dining car is attached to

the extra express trains between Auckland and Frankton. Special trains will be run on all the suburban linos during the holidays. On Easter Monday trains will run to Papakuia for the athletic sports there.

The Northern Steamship Company, Limited, the Settlers' Steamship Company, Limited, and the Dcvonport .Steam Ferry Company, will run their usual excursions during.the Easter holidays. Special fares have been arranged, and all details are set forth in our advertising columns.

The sporting public will be. well capered for by the Auckland Racing Club, which will hold a three days' meeting at Kllerslie, commencing on Saturday and continuing on Monday and Tuesday.

Devotees of bowling will have au Easter tournament, under the auspices of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association, to claim their attention. Play commences oh Saturday at one o'clock, and continues oh Monday and Tuesday. Championship fours and invitation fours and pairs competitions will be held.

A lawn tenuis tournament commences on Good Friday. Excellent entries have been received.

A number of picnics will be held, the principal being that of the employees of the Auckland Tramways Company, who will journey to Pine Island on Friday. The trams will not be running on that day.

A gathering that should be largely attended is the regatta and water sports to be held at St. Heliers Bay on Saturday. A varied and interesting programme has been arranged, and good entries have been received. Sailing, dingey, swimming, rowing, motor launch, and other rices will be held. The first event starts at eleven o'clock, and 22 events will be decided.

The Auckland Swimming Club will hold a provincial championship meeting in the Graving Dock on Good Friday afternoon. An interest afternoon's sports should be witnessed.

Those desirous of amusement in the evening will be able to witness Fuller's Entertainers, a*d the Sheridan Comedy Company, which opens on Saturday evening.

The annual Easter encampment of the volunteer forces will be held at Motuihi Island. The Victoria and College Rifles, Nos. 1, 2, and 3 Natives Rifles, and a detachment of the Bearer Corps, will parade at half-past seven o'clock on Friday morning, at the bottom of Queen-street. These, in company with, the {second Battalion Auckland Infantry, will be conveyed by steamer to Motuihi Island. The camp will be continued till Monday evening.

The banks will be closed from Friday to Wednesday morning next, this day week being a special bank holiday.
