Mr. John McLeod leaves Auckland fo Nelson to-day to attend the Biennial Movable Conference of the M.U. of Oddfellows. Captain Bone, marine superintendent for the New Zealand Shipping Company left Lytte-lton for Wellington by the Bo tomahana last night. The Rev. C. H. Garland, who has beer transferred from (he. Pitt-street Methodist L'hurch to the Nelson circuit, is speeding i :>w days in Wellington. Mr. J. L. Kirkbride, of Ponsonby, was - passeHger to Sydney by the Victoria last evening on a short tup to the principal States of the Commonwealth. Mrs. Wilson, wife of the Bishop of Melanesia, arrived in Auckland by the Iris, from Norfolk island, yesterday, and joined the Takapuna, en route to Christchurch, where she will meet her father, Bishop Julius. Mrs. Wilson is accompanied by her two children. Mr. and Mrs. George O'Malley arrived at Rockhampton from Northern Queensland on March 26. They left San Francisco in October, 1894, or. a" walk of 62,000 miles. They purpose walking from kh.tmptou to Sydney, whore they will take steamer for New Zealand and Fiji, and thence home. Mr. Goddard Jackson, who is severing his connection with the composing staff of the Government Printing Office at Wellington to take up his residence in India, was on Wednesday night presented by his fellow-employees With a travellingbag, suitably inscribed. The presentation was made bv the Government printer, Mr. J. Mackay.' A very pleasing ceremony took place on Sunday evening at St. Benedict's Hall, when the Rev. Father Giltan, on behalf ol the clergy and people of St. Benedict's, presented Mr. S. Jackson with a beautiful silver flower bowl as a mark of esteem and appreciation of the many valuable services rendered as musical director. There was a, large attendance. The recipient returned thanks in suitable terms.
