Tin. 1 death occurred recently of Mr, Edward ISleinkopfT, the founder and late proprietor of. the groat Apollinaris business. Mr. Steinkopff, who was 68 years of age. was a native of Frankfort. He joined a. German house in Glasgow in (he early seventies, and subsequently commenced business on bis own account. In conjunction with the late Mr. Smith, of Smith, Elder, ami Co.. in 1871 lie founded the business of Apollinaris, and took the chief charge of its affairs timing the period of its development, till it attained a position/unparalleled in that department of trade. In 1897 Mr. Steinknpff and his co-partners sold the business to the late Mr. Frederick Gordon for the sum of nearly two millions sterling.
