PREMIERS' CONFERENCE.
MR, SEDDON CANNOT ATTEND. ' By Telegraph.—Press- Association.—Copyright. (Received April 6, 11.35 p.m.) ' ; ', Sydney, April 6. Mr. S'kddox. luiis cabled expressing regret, that it is impossible for him to, attend the Premiers' Conference. Resolutions have been adopted by the Conference, asking the Federal Government, to amend the Constitution, so as to secure the right'of the States to appeal to the Privy Council when State rights were affected. It was also resolved that it will be incumbent on the Federal Government, if it adopts an old age pension scheme, to provide the revenue required without trenching on the Customs revenue now returnable to the States.
Mr. Deakin was present, at the afternoon session. The Braddon chaise was conversationally discussed prior to the submission of a resolution in favour of recasting the financial clauses of the Constitution, embracing the consideration of the position of the States at the termination of the Braddon clause period, and the desirableness of continuing the bookkeeping period. The visitors to-night were guests at a Ministerial dinner. -
