I Miss Amy Castlks. who lias made such a [ sensation in the musical world by her pure, rich voice and exquisite singing, started her career under somewhat romantic circumstances. About six years ago she was a pupil at a. convent school in Australia and was chosen to sing and Ave on soic«; special occasion. J.lie wife of one of the English Governors happened, to be present, and, on hearing her, declared at once. that is a voice of gold!" In six months the convent girl was ringing before 15.C0C people at the Melbourne Exhibition, and last Xovembci. when she sang in London, at Queen's Hal!, 3000 people, moved by the 'utmost enthusiasm, applauded her to the echo. . j Miss CastUs studied in Paris, under M. Bouliv. and her wonderful voice, which, it is said, bears a it-emblance to that of the great Jenny Lind, has thus teen carefuhv trained.
