LICENSING ELECTION AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
A COMPROMISE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, Wednesday. - A contested election for the Taranaki Licensing Committee will probably be avoided, a compromise having been effected between the Council of the Churches and the licensed vie'nailers to allow the Mayor of New Plymouth to select a fifth representative on the Bench, the other four nominations having been agreed to. The compromise has been facilitated by the licensed victuallers' representative at the conference agreeing to ten o'clock closing as at present.
