"Rain-in-the-Face," the last ot the great Sioux chiefs, died recently. In the seventies he fought against the United States troops, and ltd the Indians who massacred General Custer and his men. He was quite one of the Fenimore Cooper style of red skin braves, and to his dying -lav hated the palefaces. When Buffalo Bill invited him to join in with Sitting-Bull and go on tour, Rain-in-the-Facc declined the offer indignantly as being beneath the dignify id an American Indian chief. He had no objection, however, to committing murder or stealing horses. Tho chief had seven wives, and always regretted that he couldn't afford any mor«.
