Wellington", Wednesday. The directors of the Wellington Gas Company in theii report for the past year state that there has been a considerable increase in the consumption of gas. Upwards of 3i miles of new mains have been laid during the year, and 844 new services fixed. A sum of £5053 4s 9d lias been expended out of revenue on repairs and maintenance of plant, which is kept in thorough order and efficiency. On October 1 the price of gas was reduced by 5d per 1000 ft, making' the net price 5s 5d per 1000 ft. The reserve fund lias been increased t0.£25,000, and a sum of £4*62 lis lOd transferred to the works extension reserve from profit and loss account. A dividend of 5 per cent, was paid on July 1, and a similar dividend is recommended for the past half-year.
