Capetown-, January 15. Two HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE white employees in the Nourse deep mine at .Johannesburg have published a pr< rest against the reports as '<■ ill-treatment of the Chinese which are being circulated in England. They alb.",:-' that a photograph of a supposed sufferer, which has been made public, was arranged by a former Chinese compound manager who was dissatisfied with his salary. .MEETIXC JAT WELLINGTON", [my i KLV.cn.wn.-~ nu-;ss association.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A public meeting was held to-night to discuss the policy of the British Government in regard to Chinese labour in "the Transvaal. It was well tided. The following resolution was passed:--"That whereas the bite British Government at the dictation of a. small number of capitalists, lias eoen fit to introduce Chinese coolie labour into the Transvaal, on the pretence that the richest gold mines in the world would not pay if free white labour were employed, and whereas such policy is at variance with the .sentiment and traditions of the British race, this meeting hereby expresses its hearty sympathy with the policy of the British Liberal party, as unfolded by its Leader, Sir H. Campbell-Ban-nerman, and trusts that for the sake of the honour and good name of the Empire that policy will bo endorsed by the electors of Croat Britain and Ireland.*'
