THE CROPS IN THE SOUTH.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— own correct-on dent.] Wellington, Monday. Mr. Ritchie, Secretary for Agriculture, who returned from the South yesterday, states that the crops in Canterbury are very backward, -wUsc'tlie harvest this year will be unusually late. Both wheat and oats are light, but in Southland the oat crop is
heavier. In all parts of the country there is an abundance of grass.
