CROWN LANDS BOARD.

A meeting of the Auckland Crown Lands Board was held yesterday, Mr. Jas MackenCommissioner of Crown Lands, presiding. There were also present: Messrs. A. R. Harris, M.W. Armstrong, and J. Resolution Rescinded: It was resolved to rescind the resolution passed in August last, approving of the granting of the Hauraki pastoral lease for 145 acres, of Block X., Ohinemuri, to C. J. Robinson, and to grant a lease under the same tenure for the reduced area of 110 acres, and a tramway to the Waitekauri Gold Mining Syndicate, in compliance with the Warden's report, at a rental of £2 15s per annum. , A Legal Opinion : The Lands Department forwarded' the opinion of Crown law officers with reference to section 2 of the Bush and Swamp ; Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903. They advised that on the application to transfer the lessee or licensee had" to pay rent to the date of the transfer and not to pay rent for the whole period of four years (in' the case of bush lands),- and that the benefit of the four years' exemption should also apply to the _ transferee. '. The Board could, therefore, give a concession for the period paid by the lessee.. It was resolved that this ruling be adhered to in all future transactions. Lands Opened: It, was resolved to throw open for selection by public auction section 55, parish of Komokcrau, containing 50 acres, at 15s per acre. It was also decided to throw open the following lands:—-Under part 111. of the Land Act: Section 2, Block VIII., Opotiki, 40 acres/-: at 10s; section 7, Block IX., Waiawa S.D., 1760 acres, at 10s; section 4, Block V., Waitoa S.D., 371 a. 3r. 25p., .at 17s 6d; section 1, Block IV., Kawhia South, 1785 acres, at 20s; sections 3 and 4, Block 11., Tutamoe S.D., 764 gcrcs, at 15s, and 854 acres, at 16s; sections 1, 4, and 7, Block IV., Punakitero, S.D., 1070 acres, 1122 acres, and 527 acres, at 155,; sections 11, 12, 13, and 14, Block 1., Tutamoe, at ,10s, 3.45, and 15s; sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, :8, and 9, Block XIII., Punakitere, from 7s 6d to 15s: sections 9, 10, Block VII., Tutamoe, 864 acres and 759 acres, at 17s 6d; section 2, Block VII., Waipoua, Hokianga, 225 acres, at 12s (including 2s loading); sections 1 and 2, Block IV., Motatau, 254 and 250 acres, at 10s; six sections in Mangonui parish (Mangonui), totalling 773 acres, at 15s (including 4s loading). Under lands for settlement: Section 14, Plurner Hamlet, 4s.' 30p., half-yearly rental, £1 15s Bd. Under auction: Sections 2, 3, 4, and 5, suburbs of Whakatane, from £5 to £11. ■ --... :
