.:.'... .. . ««» HARBOUR EXCURSION. The. members of Mr. E. W. Alison's variola ;fiv committees at Devonport, Takapuna, North-, cote, Birkenhead, and Chelsea were entertained by Mr. Alison, the member for Waitemata, at an excursion round the harbour last night. The s.s. Albatross started from Chelsea shortly .. after seven, and proceeded - down the.harbour,'stopping at Birkenhead,_; Northcote, and Deyonport, to pick up passengers. On leaving Devonport with a full'// complement of .excursionists, the Albatross ? steamed down the hajrbour, returning to", Devonport shortly, after half-past ten. Be- ; fore the Albatross drew up alongside the wharf the company gathered in one of the ~ cabins, where Mr. F. J. Hammond pro- ; posed the health of Mr. and Mrs. Alison, which was drunk with musical honours, and amid much cheering.' Mr. Alison, in reply, | said it. had afforded . him great pleasure to j meet the members of his committees, and he ■■:_ hoped they had enjoyed their outing. Mr. Alison tendered ■ his hearty thanks to the; committees for working so zealously to secure, his election, and he trusted that his conduct in Parliament would justify the con- ■ fidence displayed in him. Mr. Alison then/ presented a gold watch, suitably inscribed, to Mr. F. E. Jackson, his organiser, for the valuable sen-ices which ho had rendered., Mr. Jackson suitably replied. After cheers had been given for Mr. and Mrs. Alison, the ladies, .Mr. aiad Mrs. Jackson, and Mr. W. F. Massey, the Devonport residents dis- - embarked, and the Albatross proceeded oh to Northcote, Birkenhead, and Chelsea. The outing was a most enjoyable one, the excursionists numbering between 400 and 500. The Devonpcrt Band added materially . to the general enjoyment by rendering a, number of selections. SOCIAL TO MR. J. FARRELL. - % The members of Mr. John Farrell's Electoral Committee entertained; him at a social' ■ . reunion in St. . George's Hall last evening,in honour of the splendid fight he made in. connection with- the recent election for : Grey Lynn. The hall was- nicely decorated,, and the tables were, abundantly supplied a with good things, and a committee of ladies attended to the guests. There were about 200 ladies and gentlemen present, and the f gathering was presided over' by Mr. A. Donald, Deputy-Mayor of Grey Lynn. A;-;'* good musical programme was contributed, and was greatly appreciated by» those pre- ; sent. ; Amongst those who contributed items ; were Miss Bailey (piano), Mis™, Garland-.., (song), Mr. Neville (recitation), Mr. E. Ford % (character songs), Mr. Ferriday (song), Mr.': Dyson (recitation), and Mr. J. Ryan (song), " all the items '• being ! encored. ■■ The toasts J honoured were- "Local Bodies," proposed by Mr. Waimock, responded to by Messrs. Dumper and Garland; "Our Guest,", pro- "{ posed by the Chairman; and "The Commit- ■ tee," proposed by Mr J. Farrell. In speak--ing to this, Mr. : Fanell took the opportunity to heartily- thank all,those who as- . sisted his candidature. The toast ■ was responded to by Messrs. Murray and Garland. A most enjoyable evening was terminated■■•'.' by the singing of " Auld Lang Syne," and "God Save the King." CHRISTMAS SACRED CONCERT. Mr. John ; Fuller has arranged a pictorial■' sacred concert' programme for, Christmas .- night, and will show by '; the ;. aid 'of his. inyriorama apparatus, a fine set of coloured I views, still life, of Ireland, for the first, time* in New Zealand. These pictures embrace;'series in ali parts of Ireland, showing the beauty spots, ruined abbeys and cathedrals - of Em's Isle. Mr. Fuller will be. assisted' | : in the vocal programme by Miss Madeline > Knight (soprano), Mr. "Rupert , Mantel! ; ; (baritone),,.' Miss .'Lily: Thomson' (mezzosoprano), and Miss May Fuller (elocutionist). , Popular prices will be charged. MR. HARRY RICKARDS' CO MP ANY. ; , Arrangements * have . been made , between; > 5 Mr. .
