The lot of the industrious poll clerk had some few spots of brightness in it, but none, perhaps, more ingenuously humorous than an occurrence that befell one favoured voting place. A young lady had entered a booth and given her name, and ' the " poll clerk, with his usual formality, quoted the name and number, the latter being 31. " Oh !" gasped the fair voter, "that must be a mistake, I'm only 23."
