McKenzie was elected president of the club, the vacancy being caused by the resignation of Mr. H. S. Hill. The meeting was. notified that from private information received bookmakers would probably pay the fee of £100 demanded by the club, and would be .in" attendance at the Whangarei races. The intimation of Mr. .1. 0. Evett's sickness and his probable inability to .'act as handicapper in consequence was received with regret, and it wan decided to appoint Mr. It. Wynyard (secretary of the Takapuna Jockey Club) as handicapper in . the event of Mr. Evett , being unable to carry out the duties.
